Should I buy GHD hair staighteners or cheaper ones? Will the more expensive GHD ones protect my hair better, and will they work?

There isn't any arguements in my book. GHD are excellent straighteners, which don't snag your hair and do make it very, very straight. There are other ceramic ones about now, but they cost about as much, so I wouldn't risk it. Try http://www.beautysleuth.co.uk, or your local hairdresser.
my hair is thick and wavey, i have tried loads of different staighteners, they all work, but can take for ever. I have to put them on 1/2 hr before using them and it takes me 1/2 hour to staighten my hair. Too much time being wasted, so today im going to but some ghd off the snet. ill keep you posted..........!
I cannot praise GHD enough. My hairdresser first used on me a few yaers ago and i was amazed at the results. I purchased a pair on the net and have never looked back. They stopped working while I was on holiday last year (think something to do with the volt difference!) and GHD replaced them within 4 days. This is excellent service! I use AVON shine spray before using the irons and i have found this to be the best spray out a large selection I have wasted money on. Hope this helps!
Ghd are very good straighteners but a pair i had blew up, im serious, they caught fire. There was a watchdog programme on about previous consumer complaints about similar incidents.. GHD accept no resaponsibility over the 12 months warranty
In response to rumanshu, they do actually make your hair curly but the way you suggested by wrapping you hair round the tongs. If you refer to the manual you will see how its done. I do it all the time its like having it set with rollers.
GHD's are the best but i wouldnt reccomend buying them! Mine exploded in my hand whilst i was on holdiay and i tried to turn them off but they wouldnt so i had to unplug them at the wall. I had to put them on the carpet because they were literally melting in my hands!
ive just purchased ghds yesterday and cant wait to get them!! only wonder about the fact that they can blow up according to a few of you!!! oh!! ill have to wait and see ill let you know
I have very long hair and hope to be donating it to 'Lock-of-Love' soon. In the meantime I need to keep it staight for interviews and work. I usually get it blownout, but this is very expensive. I am shopping for a ceramic staightener, is there a difference between royal blue and gold plated ceramics? Is it necessary to get a wider plate? My hairdresser never comes up with anything helpful. Thanks for the help in advance.
I was thinking of investing in some ghds but I'd heard some bad reviews about them being dangerous and that they're not 100% ceramic which I felt was a bit of a rip-off for £100. I instead bought some JML Pro Ceramic straighteners for £19.99 which are brilliant - they're solid ceramic and heat up to the same temperature as ghd's - I recently tried them out on my sister who has also used ghd and she said the results are just as good as with ghd irons, and her hair stayed straight for a couple of days. As long as I limit the use of my straighteners and always use a protective spray my hair should stay in good condition.
hi again, i've tried out my jml straighteners and they work well on my thick & bushy hair, although I reckon I could prob do with a wider plated straightener as they'res so much hair to straighten! My hair was really straight n silky (bt not quite super poker straight). Results dont last as long as with ghd's but i reckon they're still gr8 for the money.
EXPENSIVE ONES ARE BETTER. With buying the cheap ones, you risk your hair's vitality TO A GREAT DEGREE. They damage your hair soo badly.. However, the salon ones are ceramic and burn the product more before it burns your hair. If you're going to straighten your hair, go with the salon ceramic ones.
F H I !!!!!!
FHI's are just as good, if not better than, GHDs and are around 75quid, rather that 100

GHD straighteners are definately the ones to go for. They have down in price in recent years so you can really pick up a bargin online. check out http://www.getprettypretty.com/hair-care/ghd/i ts-all-about-ghd-when-it-comes-to-straightener s/ for a list of approved ghd stockists
