Thanks for the link Gromit.
Glad it was what you wanted , good link above too Gromit.
I admit I have never seen anyone who has self harmed in anyway, but something don't sound quite right about this story.

How did the till assistant recognise that they were self armed scars, if I saw a person with scars on their arms or anywhere else for that matter I would not immediately assume that they were caused in the process of self harming.

Regarding Gromit's stupid cow comment, I was once openly chastised on here, for using the word *** to describe a female wrongdoer.
Shocking that this cashier should be able to judge someone like this!! it wasn't even done discreetly by the sounds of it, If my daughter had been treated that way I would have gone ballistic!!
AOG...you can tell a self harmer.

/// The Daily Mail has lots of
photographs!!! ///

Well two at least that actually show the scars.

But I would still not put my job on the line, by automatically assuming that they were self inflicted scars, could had, had an accident, could be burn marks etc.

Called me naive, but the fact is because I have never come in contact with anyone who has self harmed, it would never have entered my head, that is what the scars were.

Maybe the Tesco employer had come across it and recognised it and jumped in too quickly, an error was made and apologies given.

I think it's virtually impossible to eliminate human error in cases like this, sad but true.

Looking at the photos at the Daily Mail website, I would have immediately recognised those marks as scars from self-harm. However, I don't know enough about the condition to base any judgement on my actions (if I were in the checkout assistant's position).

However, saying that - if the girl was buying razor blades, or a knife, I would have to let common sense prevail and call my supervisor.

However, she was buying champagne and a birthday card. To me, that doesn't suggest someone who's going to go home and attack herself, it suggests someone planning a party.
