Recently I asked my manager about the posibilites of getting a pay rise as she is always the first port of call with these things. As always, she said she would speak to my CEO and let me know. After a few weeks having not heard anything I approached her and asked if there was any news. She said she hadn't spoken to him yet and didn't know when she would be able which I found odd as he had been in the office frequently. A few days later she announced that he was no longer the CEO or director of the company and was now just a consultant. I asked her then what would happen in relation to my request and her answer was 'I don't know'. It's not a decision she can make herself and although we have 2 other directors over seas, they won't appreciate me asking them directly. What can I do now? I'm currently paid around 3000 lower then the average for this job in my area and feel that I have contributed a lot (which they are aware of) since my last rise so I'm not just asking because I fancy a bit of extra cash. I have legitimate reasons but no idea what to do now.
The simple answer is leave and get paid the going rate elsewhere. If your company is shedding senior management, and there seems no intention of replacing them, the omens are not good. It may be a case of jump before you are pushed.
