Friends Reunited

I know that Friends Reunited has now closed down. Personally, I miss it as I was a keen member and have been able to contact so many people that I had lost touch with.

But we were told by FR that we would be notified in advance of the final closure, and that we would be able to archive our entries, but if this happened, I must have missed it, and have now lost some valuable photos.

Can anyone help please ?

Same as you Mikey - promise of notification which never arrived.

How have you lost photos? Surely you have the originals of any you put on there or were you wanting to download some that someone else had put on there?

bhg...I may be able to get some of the other photos back, that others posted, but it was so much easier thru FR !

I am guessing that they must be in a digital archive somewhere .....is any internet whizz-kid on here tonight ?

same as you mikey, i reconnected with several old friends from London after moving to Wales in 78 and was a regular user but once they changed the format(if that's the right wording) i found it almost impossible to track anyone down and just couldn't figure out how the site worked, also there were many people i knew that were on the site for many years seemed to disappear off the site in the last 6 months or so and it seemed too much of a coincidence that they all closed their own profiles down within the same time period.

I'm the same. It's messages and e-mail connections that I only had on there. No warning and now can't retrieve anything. I loved the site.

I didnt have anything of note on there - all I used to get was bad news.

Bearing in mind FR was around for a long time is there any possibility you had it on an old email - there was nothing in the email about archiving.

I received the e-mail from FR in time for me to delete everything l had posted over many years. One of our little groups has transferred to a closed group on Facebook but it's not the same. As far as l am cocerned, Facebook is rubbish compared with FR.

I loved FR. I know there is still FB, but if your friends didn't have an unusual name it's hard to find them from the other people in the world who have the same name.
