Cat urine (!)

Unfortunately & much to my frustration, 2 of my cats have started to leave their "scent" in my kitchen. Any advice on how to stop this & how do I get rid of the smell??? Please, please, please...any info would be most gratefully received. xx

Got the same problem - not sure why she is doing it, may be another cat outside spraying it's scent.

We've for a litter tray inside, but she is still doing it.

Im glad i'm not alone. I have also had the same problem with my two cats, despite having a litter tray indoors, they continue to spray and am also desperate for any suggestions.

we had this problem when we introduced a new cat into our resident "pack"...the female that we had had for years started to spray and despite being neutered it did pong. The vet suggested using a washing up bottle to squirt water at her when we caught her (which was not often, she would wait until all was quiet before carrying out the deed!!) This problem stopped when we moved (a bit drastic) and all the cats were new to our new abode. The spraying is usually done in order to enforce their territory so there may be a threat from another animal???

Cats tend to keep marking the same area over and over again. They can smell where they did it before if it is not completely clean. I believe the cleaner you need is called Natures Miracle. If you can completely remove the scent from previous soilings they may stop doing it. Remember, a cats sense of smell is 10,000 times stronger than that of a human, so when you think the smell is cleaned up they still smell it.

As well as Nature's Miracle,I have a cat book,which advises cleaning the soiled area with biological washing powder,as this can break down the enzymes in the urine.

Try white vinger its as good as anything and cheaper takes the smell away, and deters the cats from returning

Just heard you can get 'comforter plugs' from vets - these are plugged into walls and release a pheromone which de-stresses the cat. Not cheap (25 quid a shot) and only available through vets at moment, but know someone who used one and worked perfectly.

use after shave were they have done it or use biologial washing powder in water then use pepper dust you can buy this from the pet shop
