when 1 is knocked out ST says words to the effect, "you'll be coming back", I watch today and yesterday and the same contestant was eliminated both days but still coming back. So how many times can they go back on the show?

They get 3 goes, unless they get through to the final in which case that is their last go, no matter whether it is their 1st or 3rd show.

Not quite true because if you score enough points in your third programme you will go through to the final which will mean 4 appearances
