Why do most ads have mixed raced couples in them lately?

Is it a PC thing to have mixed raced couples nowadays so as not to appear racist?

Personally i don't think being 'PC' comes into it. Maybe the agencies are just trying to appeal to the widest audience possible?

Advertisers do a lot of research to try to ensure that their ads are as effective as possible for the largest possible number of their target market.

Not everyone sees it as PC, Mrs B is away this weekend, a friend of ours is staying here at the same time, she is a very westernised Indian Lady Doctor.
Yesterday when out and about in Whitstable we were strolling along the seafront with arms linked, it was very windy, so best way of staying together, we must have looked like a couple and we twice got unpleasant comments from 'normal' looking family groups for being, as they saw it, a mixed race couple, nothing direct but said as an aside that we couldn't miss. I had to be steered away the second time it happened, it is so unnecessary.

The Census shows that interracial couples are the fastest growing group of people getting married or living together.

They will have taken that into account.

I think most programs now try to have a mix of everything now, gay , lesbian , wheelchair user , Asian or black and just about any other variable you care to mention all in the one program! I find it most annoying because its so obvious what they are trying to do.

I feel sorry for the black actors, they must wonder, '' Am I here because I am good, or that they have to employ a black person ? ''.
