all my desk top icons have all changed places on ther own accord
and rubbish bin has gone from the left to join all my other icons on the right

good answer there from knobby the PC expert of CB, montcrieff (whoelse wants to know where that name came from?) it needs defragging, go to start, programs, accessories, system tools, defrag

On mine it is Start, Accessories, Tools, Defrag. It's not as good as Dot's, but it is cheaper and tells you what it is doing.

whiffey maybe that is the problem, a puter should not tell YOU what it is doing, you should tell IT what it is doing, it's the way you hold your mouth, as they say in the Capital of Culture.

Defragging just tidies up files on the hard disk of your computer. It will NOT rearrange icons for you. As knobby has said, you need to drag and drop them back into place.

Chances are you have right clikced on your desktop and accidentally clicked on "arrange icons".
