Found out last night if you haven't registered to vote for this..you will not be able to vote ..anyone else seen or heard of this about referendum vote ?

That is incorrect. If you are on the electoral roll you will automatically get a vote.
If you haven't registered to vote then you probably would have discovered that when you tried to vote in the recent local elections.
as jackdaw says you do not to register if you are already on the electoral roll(for example if you vote in the elections in May)

That blunder cost the man in charge his job.
Ah, but at most it was a possible +1 for UKIP and -1 for Libs; so all's well that ends well.
