I have taken my pc back to factory setting.
Does anyone roughly know how long it takes to download updates.
I have had it going now for 4 hours saying checking for updates.
many thanks

I'd had it running for two and a half hours before bedtime and it was still happily chugging away. It was completed by the morning so it took somewhere between two and a half and nine hours.
Yet another failure courtesy of our friends at Microsoft. All I was doing was looking a few websites and e-Mails. Over it went:
"Failure to Connect to a Windows service. Windows couldn't connect to the Group Policy Client Service.." and another five or six lines of drivel.
Windows 8 is prone to such failures (this is the third I have suffered) and is not fit for purpose.
