Hi, is there anyway I could have a tooth abscess without having actual tooth pain? I can eat with no pain and drinking hot and cold drinks without any (extra) sensitivity. I suffer with 'clicky jaw' and currently having a flare up. I also have a headache around my eyes. The only thing I do have, which I don't usually, is sharp shooting pain in my jaw. Could it be the flare up or something dental? Thanks x
Thank you. Saw GP today who has given me anti inflammatory tablets for my jaw and nasal spray for my sinuses but these shooting pains started about 3 hours ago. Petrified it's an abscess!
It is extremely unlikely that the symptoms that you describe are due to infection (Abscess ).
It sounds very much like "Clicking TM joint dysfunction syndrome."
Your dentist will be the best option to confirm whether an abscess and if it is, at least you'll know and be told how it can be treated.
I'm off to Malta tomorrow for a working holiday with the family and had a toothache since yesterday, so went this afternoon to my dentist and apparently chipped a tooth at the back, probably munching on a Subway lunch and fixed now......which is a relief.
I would definitely visit your dentist to find out what's going on. Good luck, Chiara x
Understand that you are nervous of dentists, but remember he or she won't bite.......if your lucky :-) .....and you could take a friend along. Hope it's what Dr Sqad says it is. x
