Usb Ports Dont Work

I have quite an old laptop, Emachines, and I sometimes load my,photos from my phone and my ipad onto it. I Have problems with the USB ports, they wont always upload, the blue light keeps flashing on the laptop and then stops. Now I have a window that says GT S6810P should I tick the box that says Always do this for this device? And why dont the USB ports work properly? I have to keep twiddling them about and then sometimes the blue light works and loads, sometimes it doesnt...Thanks all, I am not technical so easy answers please!

Have you updated the drivers for the usb ports?
GT S6810P is a Galaxy Smartphone. Is that your phone?

I have a Galaxy Fame. How do I do that hc ?? Also when I eventually load from my phone, and try to open my Pictures Library on the laptop, the pictures open very slowly, I get the blue circle going round and round ....

Assuming your machine runs windows you need to go into Device Manager through the Control Panel and click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
Right click on each hub and click 'update drivers'

The driver you need is called a chipset driver. Go to the emachines support site and look for driver downloads for your specific machine and operating system.

Thank you both, I will try that.... But everything from pictures to getting into Device Manager on the Control Panel is so slow,the blue circle is going round as we speak, why is this?? I use Mozilla and get a lot of Not Responding......

The blue circle appears when the internet is buffering - it is not fast enough.

Have you got problems with the internet? Does everything else connect to it okay?

Ok eventually got into that, list of six hubs, do I search automatically for updated driver software, or browse my computer for driver software? How long should it take for each one to work? Losing patience now ! Wonder if my laptop has a bug .... Or is this normal? Ipad internet works fine, laptop just so slow and sometimes Not Responding. All I keep doing is switching machine off and on again.

Search automatically for each one. Alternatively you can download software that will do it all for you
