Abandoned Nest Box
4 Answers
I was so thrilled when blue tits chose our nest box to build their home, but noticed all the chirping babies had suddenly gone very quiet. Left it a week then we got the box down today and there were 4 dead babies in it. Why would this have happened, everything seemed normal and the box isn't in a place where they were disturbed. Poor little things

There has been a very determined black cat prowling around prior to it going quiet, I scared it away every time I saw it, but couldn't watch it 24 + 7.
Think I'll take a peak in the morning.
Hope at least some of yours managed to get away, this is one reason they have large broods.

Hi Horselady,
After reading your post yesterday, I decided to check on my nest box this morning.
Plenty of fluffy nesting material, that was all but I did hear a lot twittering from nearby trees, so I feel fairly confident that at least some made it.
Just thought I'd post an update.
Hopefully some of your chicks made it too.
