Handing in notice
I have just accepted a job offer, which means I will need to hand my notice in within the next day or so. I've never had to do this before (my previous company made me redundant and then I temped for a while).
Any tips on what to say to my boss when I give her my resignation letter? I imagine she'll be pretty shocked that I'm leaving. I don't think she's got any idea that I've been looking for a new job and things have been stressful for her recently (she has recently got a new boss and a new person has recently joined our dept. so she is showing her the ropes). It's not the best time for me to be leaving, but obviously I'll do everything I can to make a smooth exit.
Any tips on making my announcement as least stressful as possible?? Thanks.

I've done it - wanted to get the deed over with as early as possible.
I haven't written my letter yet, but spoke to my boss when I arrived this morning. She took it very well, congratulated me on my new position and when I said I was nervous about telling her, she said, well that's business and you ultimately have to look after your own interests.
The thought of doing something horrible is always worse than actually doing it!
Thanks again Hattster!
