What's the most annoying British accent?

My votes are Liverpudlian way out ahead, followed by sarf east Laahhnndon (I'm from the SE, but am fairly accentless) and then Brummie. My favourite is Geordie.

I watched a programme a while back -- a sort of Welsh Taggart. The soft spoken Welsh accent was in complete contrast to the hard villains playing the parts.I'm afraid I just fell about laughing. I've nothing against the Welsh accent, just don't let them play baddies. They don't sound scary enough.

I used to like the Scouse accent, but for some reason, not any more, especially the really harsh one. Followed by Brummie - I fancy Cat Deeley until she speaks! Likewise Frank Skinner (no I don't mean I fancy him!) - I can't get past his accent to find him funny, but the worst is definitely the Estury sound of most celebrities. the thought of soundling like that has put a serious block on my ever moving south of Watford to live.

Liverpudlian - definatly (bless them) and although I live there Yorkshire accents drive me crazy!

I love listening to most accents but can't stand liverpewell, or as mentioned the mockney estuary that TV presenters use. Hate them both with a passion.

I find 'posh' or 'affected' versions of any accent annoying, especially when adopted by people who think it'll make them a better person. Scubaboy says he's 'fairly accentless' but EVERYONE has an accent so why be ashamed of it?

By "fairly accentless" I mean I haven't got a pronounced accent - perhaps "neutral" (or boring?) accent would've been a better description. In fact, I'd quite like to have an accent - if I had a choice, either Geordie, or the "soft" (almost sing song - does that make sense?) accent of parts of Scotland

How can so many people be so wrong? It is absolutely and without doubt tea Geordie accent used by almost all the link announcers on Channel 4 and especially especially especially the bloke who does the voiceovers on Big Brother. Jane Middlemiss is a very close second.

Thee-ur-ee-ur-air moo-er-or-oost annoying accee-air-ur-ent is Gee-ee-oor-oo-oordeee-er-oo-er. I agree with the comment about the Big Brother person who always says "dee-er-air-er-air-er-ee-or-ee foo-our" instead of saying "day four" like us normal people.

I find accents fascinating and think it amusing how the BBC plummy English accent has been changed and the normal correspondants on the news programmes have a wide range of regional dialects and are used sometimes it seems just to get their accents heard . The one in particular that springs to mind is the Scottish correspondant with the Western Isles accent .I can't really imagine him outlining the Budget proposals outside number10 but he is nice to listen to

Definately the Welsh closely followed by Liverpudlians...sorry but they grate on me. My favourite by far is Scottish, particularly the highlands & islands accents.
