Visiting Deer.

Today the deer who came to call had rope, string and plastic wrapped so tightly around his antlers. There was so much of it I was really worried. It didn't stop him eating my carrots though!
I phoned local council for help. They told me to phone Forestry Commision so I did, they couldn't help but said they would ring the Wildlife Trust and get someone here straight away.
Luckily the deer decided to have a sleep.
I waited and waited. Eventually I got fed up and phoned Wildlife Trust. They hadn't heard anything, but he said they don't do animal rescue anyway so couldn't help me.
He gave me another number, I rang it, he said he would come in about an hour.
By this time the deer had gone. I felt so frustrated, if I had know TWLT didn't do animal rescue this chappie who came out would have seen and possibly helped the deer. Grrrrrr.

Oh, Caran....in my long drawn out dealing with the Forestry Commission they are the most uncaring, disorganised and useless bunch....never again...they actually made me cry in frustration.....

I'm sorry you couldn't get speedy help for the deer....have you got a phone number of someone to help quickly next time the deer visits?...x

Gness the chappie who came out seemed helpful so I have kept his number.
I also was disgusted by the Forestry Commission and the Wildlife Trust.
There is no way that the deer will naturally lose the wrappings. It will have to wait until they lose their antlers again. The wrapping was so intricate it almost looked like it had been done deliberately by someone.

From my personal experience and that of my late mother's,if you are trying to rescue an animal in distress, it is the "non professionals" that actually save the day! Hope your deer comes back to be helped, Caran .
