Some time ago I noticed a grass seed for sale that promised to grow grass, on concrete, in the dark and in the arctic .. or words to that effect !... ;-)

I remember it being quite expensive but now I need it I can't find it.

I have an area that is under a holly tree . Most grass I have tried comes up, goes white
and withers

Has anyone got any ideas for a species of grass that stands a chance

Astro turf.
It's not only shady but dry too, under trees. You may need to annually reseed it anyway, and water regularly.
Miracle grow patch magic grass seed
Wow....sounds like a tall order or some kind of miracle, with a claim like that ! ...:-)

You should be able to a 'grass seed mix for shady areas' and other conditions in a larger garden centre/DIY store, they usualyl contain Fescue in the mixture.
Keeping it moist might be a challenge but good luck with it!
