How did you 'clean' your hard drive? (I've been using PCs for around 20 years and I can't recall ever 'cleaning' a hard drive!)
What do you mean by the 'security key? Are you referring to a wifi password or a Windows one?
Also, when you say that your computer is 'taking longer than usual to the internet' are you referring to a wired connection or a wireless one? Is it just an initial connection problem or are all pages slow to load?

Reformat will require the original windows key that was with the laptop when it was new. If you have not got the installation disc or original paperwork that has it written down you may have a bit of work to do. Henry did this laptop come with windows10 or have you upgraded to windows10. If you have upgraded the product key will give you your old system and you will need to up grade to w10 again. You only have 7 days to do a free w10 upgrade.
If you reformat a hard drive you'll wipe all of the device-specific drivers. While Windows includes loads of generic drivers it can't include every possible one for every possible computer. So you might need to reinstall the network adapter driver. To do so, you'll need to use your other computer to download the driver installation file (from the manufacturer's website) to a USB memory stick, then transfer that stick to the duff computer, copy the file to it, run it and restart the computer.
