my wife recently got a call from a company sounding like orange offering to send her an upgrade phone while renewing her orange contract. orange contract renewed for 12mths, she gets a phone (same model, no upgrade, seal already broken on box - pre-used?) through the post - tries to call orange to get the mto correct their mistake and finds out it's another company called " The Communications Centre" that made the call, renewed the contract, sent the phone. she can't get hold of them on the contact no. and the covering letter says "you can return the phone within seven days but not if the seal is broken" etc.

any ideas/anyone else had this sort of scam pulled on them?

Cheers

omg thats awful, i am worried now as Ive just had a call from orange offering to give me a new 18 month contract and new phone, im dreading receiving one with a seal broken on it

Did she give out bank details or credit card details to this company?.

If so I might be a bit worried.

Sounds very dodgy

Report it to your local Trading Standards straight away
i had this happen to me last year and i sent the phone back within the 7days but they claimed not to have got it but i sent it recorded deilivery! After lots of phone calls to the real Orange comany it was sorted back to my old contract....Good luck
