I am not sure if any of us know the answer
retraction as you suspect may mean ceasing to claim - oo-er !
I converted from DLA to PIP ( not volunarily )
even tho they said my life expectancy was such that they thought it wasnt worth it
and found there was the usual fifty page thingey to fill out
every box has to be filled out with your disability and not just once on page 1. and you report on your typical day not your best day ( once I climbed Snowdon, no no no yeah in 1972 ). you are allowed to have a carer present at amy assessment and it is an advantage to do so
for a home assessment, a non med is used and then her report is interpreted by a doctor at home base - too many were beaten up apparently
and good luck
it is very stressful

I was told that DLA would last indefinitely
and then got a letter saying it wouldnt ( and the letter sort of began - you know you thought you were gonna get this in perpetuity well the good news for us is that we are gonna reassess you on a different scale......)
regard it as one of the many hoops in ife you have to jump thro

I completed my form. It had to be typed as and when able due to dizziness and headaches caused by my brain tumour. I couldn't write it as I can't control a pen after a few moments.
Made it perfectly clear that I had serious mobility issues through dizziness and the possibility of falling over, and yet they expected me to travel to the nearest city for assessment. They even sent me directions with walking times.
They're a joke!
