peugeot 307

i just purchased a 2nd hand 307, when i lock the the horn gives one quick 'beep' - annoying!!! is this normal for the 307??? surely not??

could be a security device of some sort,have you asked the previous owner?

A friend of mine just got an alarm fitted on his 306 and when its activated the horn makes a short blast followed by a feww beeps and my parents car alarm does the same it could just be the type of alarm!!

As standard 307s are usually silent when locking. As said before an upgraded/aftermarket alarm could be fitted.
The other thought I had was that many cars blip the horn to indicate the think a door/boot has been left open when you try to lock them. Check all openings to make sure.
