Anything To Worry About ?

I was typing a Hotmail email today and when I closed a bracket the number inside changed to the face of a grinning red devil. I managed to get rid of it but is there anything to worry about ?

I have Webroot SecureAnywhere Endpoint Protection installed at some cost. The suite also contains the top-end MalwareBytes product.

Cheers.

I'd not know but I wonder if the addition on the bracket inadvertently produced the text sequence for an emoticon.

Thanks, OG, but the bracket on my keyboard is a 'stand-alone; symbol and the plus sign is above the = sign.

If you typed

(6)

it will show a red devil in some programs
Nothing to worry about, I first noticed it while doing crosswords on other sites - if there were (6) letters I got that emoji
Surely it should be (666) ?
just 6 Old_Geezer ;}
They happened to me a few times once. A bit unnerving......

Well done you lot. It was the number 6 in brackets.

Breathes a sigh of relief and downs a stiff Scotch !

Night night.

Yes, a similar thing happens (in Word I think) when I want to type a c in brackets as (c), maybe as part of a list of points- but it often automatically changes to the copyright sign ©
(6) testing
nope ! (6)

Nope!
You're not typing into Hotmail and whatever editor it uses.
murray mints and waterboatman, it happens on sites like skype, if I'm typing to my son and put 6 in brackets, that happens, i no longer do it. I am delighted to see we sorted the 'problem' for derekpara, I( just hope he doesn't have a devil of a headache today after the scotch last night ;}
My ISP's forum doesn't use the 'devil' emoticon, but if you type '8)' you get the 'cool' one.

Thanks for your concern, eanceoil. Devil is exorcised and hangover gone.

Most of the code for AB is over 10 years old.
Hopefully when the new responsive site is up and running, some of these long last glitches will be removed.
