How many 'gangs of teenagers on BMX bikes' are there likely to be in that area? Not more than one I would think. It is a sufficient description for people to know who they are talking about.

I still have to ask what has the mayor of London got to do with this?
He can not interfere with an ongoing police investigation. No one but the police can put out descriptions of suspects. If he was unwise enough to do as you suggest the case would have to be dropped. Is that what you want?

So the initial story involving spotty youths on bmx bikes has moved on somewhat.

It looks as if the police did know what they were doing after all and managed to catch someone without publishing descriptions to all and sundry, and Mr Khan will be pleased that he didn't interfere.
