It's only 61 days away.
I absolutely love Christmas, at least, I love the atmosphere and not the commercialism.
Everyone who knows me is aware that my tree and decs go up on the weekend closest to my birthday (12/11), and I make no apologies for that!
I actually have some small "discreet " items that remain on view all year round!

Any celebratory day that brings people together and smiles on kids and adults faces alike gets my vote. The only thing I'm upset about is that we don't get a white Christmas like countries that actually get 4 seasons do. Our Christmas day could be a snowy one but it could just as easily be a blowing gail, torrential downpour or blazing sun, sometimes all of them on...

I love Christmas usually, but only because I get to see the family members who live away. Half of them aren't coming this year, so it'll be the remainder of us trying to get through the day, without the most talkative people there.
Never mind, I'm glad I still have some people.
I don't know what presents to buy for them though.

Neither love nor hate it. The ultra commercialisation of it, with items on sale earlier each year has deadened it for me though(Xmas cards and decs on sale at the beginning of October, double u tee eff?).
Furthermore, given that most people work all over the 'festive' period these days it's hardly a 12 day celebration.
Finally, given that I'm working 8-2 Xmas morning and 12.30-9 on Boxing day(usually the worst for attempted suicides, family bust-ups and kids with broken bones who've fallen of bikes/skateboards) it won't really hold much meaning.
I'm not vaguely religious but if I were a Christian I'd be peeved that Xmas these days is all about spending vast quantities on consumer items and making sure that little Johnny has more toys and trinkets than he could possibly know what to do with.
Sadly, it's lost its way to consumerism.

Yes, I agree, chilldoubt. Thankfully, my boy has never wanted much, so I was never going to be one of those parents who queue outside shops overnight to get the new game thing/ cabbage patch doll/ whatever the new "must have" thing was.

Not a miserable old fart but I think it's gone out of control with costs, adverts the beginning of Oct, Prices going up for one or was a special day, Holiday Comp taking the Izz out of people with the prices when they want some Sun, times now when some families are on the bread line, yes I did like it when It was Christmas, that was when, It was Christmas, I know things change, that's my views.
Thanks Cloverjo. I don't like sounding like a sourpuss and I do(or at least did) enjoy Xmas, but AT Xmas.

My son too has always been the same, not had more than £120 spent on him.
I've got friends who have been on benefits for the last 3 years and last year they spent over a thousand pounds EACH on their 15 and 10 year old. Madness.
