freezing cheese
7 Answers
I have always bought various cheeses when they have been on special offer like b.o.g.o.f and frozen them as stated on the packaging but these days they only state keep refrigerated, so are what has changed in the cheese that they can no longer be frozen, I'm baffled by this, can anyone throw any light on this subject. Thanks.

Cannot give you the scientific answer, will leave that for someone in the know. Have frozen cheddar many times (used to grate it first) but now have, like yourself, taken advantage of bogof offers and slammed it in the freezer whole....not had any problems, ever. Wouldn't like to say if other cheeses though deserve more respect.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I shall definitely go back to freezing my cheeses again now that I feel reassured, I'm not normally a dithery person but it was just something that was making me think twice about it. I agree about the crumbly texture on defrosting so I will probably grate it first, if I can be bothered, anyway cheers again. :-)
