Is it not obvious that an island or group of island is stronger under one government ? It is still small enough for all to relate to the whole, yet large enough to be more effective.

One may as well ask why a family is keen for all the family members to remain at their home and no go off in a huff seeing if they can make it on their own, and finding they have to join the large gang in the area in order to survive.

well Scotland have not been "independent" for nearly 300 years eddie, they voted with the rest of the UK in June, they are no different to any area you want to claim did not vote for brexit.

Not quite so, Eddie. If Scotland splits from the UK it will not remain part of the EU and it is most unlikely they will be accepted as an independent member in their own right. Ms Sturgeon sometimes suffers an overdose of delusions of grandeur. Her notion that Scotland has some sort of independent input to the process the UK Parliament eventually adopts to secure Brexit is fanciful. The High Court's ruling last week made it perfectly clear that it is the Westminster Parliament that has the power to do so. Ironically Ms Sturgeon is demanding to have an input to the appeal against that ruling. I doubt the ruling will be overruled on appeal and it certainly will not be ruled that the Scottish Parliament must have an input to the process.

It is difficult for me. Scotland has not been an independent nation for more than 300 years. It is not so according to the United Nations and it is not so according to the EU. It is a component part (or area) of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
