If this wasn't patently true, I wouldn't have believed it.

If the judge didn't believe the "excuse" he should have jailed him.

"Who and why would someone punch a 5 day old child in the face, in a supermarket, in front of its mother?"
Creepy weird loners like the one in the article.
" I think he was showing off and being stupid in front of the seven year old child, trying to amuse the child."
Which in a way is a type of "Grooming" and sentencing should have reflected this imo.

"He has a wife. he is not a 'weird creepy loner'.
Many serial killers, rapists and terrorists have been married and were described by the police as "Loners"
Grooming?.........That's a bit of a leap in the dark, Lunol.
How would you describe the motives of a grown man sparking a conversation with a seven year old girl and trying to impress/torment her?
"The fact the Judge dismissed Hardy's claims yet only added a fine/costs and some compensation seems even odder."
This seems quite the norm in paedophile cases where I geniunely start to question the reasons for the judges sympathy for those accused.

Hi Mikey, I watched footage tonight of him going in to court with all his family, his wife seemed particularly convinced he would be found innocent, talking to the cameramen waiting. It's a very odd case, but I actually believe he 'did' think it was a doll, so was their assured manner entering court.
