Hi Sqad. I finally got around to going to the doctor this afternoon. He wasn`t able to do much apart from prescribe tablets for nausea. I did my own DIY Eplay manoeuvre yesterday which made me feel pretty queasy for the rest of the day. What he really surprised me with is that he was pretty sure I have a perforated eardrum! I didn`t expect that.
Well, he signed me off until the end of next week but from what I have heard from people at work in the past, a burst eardrum usually means about 3 weeks off work. The mystery is that I didn`t feel it perforate which is unusual.
237SJ.......Thanks for the update. I think it is extremely unlikely that you have a perforated ear drum and not known about it. Without being disrespectful, GP's often confuse a scarred eardrum with a perforation and that is what he is seeing........a scarred eardrum which i ma certain is nothing to do with your balance problem.
Well, keep me informed as i am quite interested.
Well Sqad, I haven`t had any vertigo since I did the Epley. I still think my problem is positional. I`m going to have to see another GP this week for a second opinion re the supposed perforation before I go back to work. I`m keeping my fingers crossed.
237...been away for a couple of days and just seen your post.
Unless his interest was E.N.T I would reluctantly accept ANY opinion on the ear drum from a GP.
Keep me informed.
Thanks sqad. I think I`m going to involve the medical people at work. I was hoping to keep my head down but they are the experts so I`m going to have to.
