Removal Insurance
Can anyone suggest where to get insurance to cover personal/household goods in transit, self-wrapped/packed being moved by a commercial concern but the insurance needs to be independent of using any particular transport or other service provider (i.e. not "our insurance" when you for example send by company X). The move is between two EU countries, neither of which is the UK.

To answer the questions raised in answers: There is of course no such thing as an "illegal" carrier because that would in practice also mean anyone moving their own goods would have to be licensed as well as anyone with a vehicle and doing this as a fully declared (tax, vehicle's insurance, etc.) and for example self employed jobbing exercise - transporting things is not a regulated/restricted profession like medical practice, (real) engineering, etc. Removers' own insurance only provides total loss cover in the case of self packed - the insurer and remover thus form a cartel which forces the owner of the goods to pay them their rate for pack, including when everything of concern is back in original retail packaging or as good/better and thus at no higher risk than it ever suffered.
