Hi all,
i have been suffering with neck pain for several months, thought it would go away like most other ailments if given time, but now really painful, can hardly move my head. can't drive car as cannot look left or right at junctions etc. pain is in lower part of neck where it connects to collar bone area. sometimes it " clicks" and makes me jump with pain. I have also now got muscle pains in the arm. any ideas.

Sounds like cervical spondylosis ( wear and tear).
You haven't told us how you are dealing with it from the point of view of pain relief.
See you GP as it has been going on for so long.

Hi Sqad,
thanks for the reply. i do not take pain relief, But i do feel that the doctor will prescribe something, which may calm the pain but not sort the problem, thats why i have resisted seeing a gp. Same doctor told other half that immobility and pain in the hands should be treated with a gel, He resisted my request for a blood test, but he seems to be on a NHS money saving crusade, which is working, as i don't feel its of any use seeing him.
I think you should see your GP. I had neck pain last year. I think mine came about from sleeping on my front which twists the neck a little bit. I couldn`t look over my shoulder when driving because my neck hurt and was quite stiff. The doctor sent me for an MRI which showed that there was no damage to the neck. I felt that didn`t really address the problem as I still had the pain and stiffness but my neck is now OK. It seems to have resolved itself on it`s own. I don`t think the doctor will just give you pills. I think he will refer you for tests which seem to be the guidelines for that sort of thing.
