when i went which was a good few years ago we stayed on international drive in a hotel called quality inn plaza. its not the poshest but t was a lovely hotel and if you were to hire a car its in easy distance of all the disney parks. down the internation drive strip there is also loads of restaurants, shops and attractions (crazy golf etc). the food was lovely, rooms very nice and the hotel had 3 pools. worth looking into, if we went back again i'd definatly consider staying there. hope this helps
I would agree with xJx, you can't go wrong on International Drive. Plenty of hotels, eaterys and shopping. There is a water park there so if you fancy a quiet day (ie non Disney) you could take the kids there to cool down.
I have stayed all over Orlando in all types of accommodation. Good, bad, posh, scruffy. If your priorities are to have stuff within walking distance, you really can't beat Quality Inn Plaza. There's a Pizza Hut and Steak Restaurant outside, Pointe Orlando shops and a big cinema opposite. In addition, if you wanted to go further afield, the I-Ride tram stops outside and takes you all over the International Drive area, tickets being a few dollars for the whole day. Check out their website for further details. You'll all love it.
for the price of a hotel stay, you could get a villa !!!
me and my family went couple years ago, we to stayed on international drive, its a perfect location, bus service on main road takes you to sea world in one direction and shops and wet and wild in other for about 30 pence each, for long journey, i stayed at the WYNDHAM RESORT, right oposite to the largest macdonalds, on international drive, it was beautiful, large, i mean very large rooms, 5 pools, gym, childcare, several food outlets, as in takeaway restaraunts and eat in, this place is that good, i saw quality inn, no disrespect to others but they reminded us of butlins apartments, nice but no thanks for us. i to also took my wifes nana, 69 she loved it, my kids were 10 and 8 they loved it, need anymore info just ask and i will pass u my email and give u what details u need. thanks, and enjoy your holiday, oh it was not expensive either, cost 1800 pounds for 3 weeks in first week in sep weather perfect, 95 to 100 each day beautiful and parks not very busy either.
