I keep hearing on the radio that office based staff have a 17 day holiday over Christmas this year. Has anyone here got 17 days off?

This year, New Year's Day is on a Sunday, so Monday the 2nd is the Bank Holiday.
For some reason - possibly to do with Christmas Day being on a Sunday - Boxing Day isn't a bank holiday, but the day after is.
I guess that's how office workers can maximise their time off without taking too much out of their holiday allowance.
nope civil servant here and I have 3 days off for the bank holidays and that's it!
suppose it explains why railway staff are striking pre christmas ...

Christmas falling at the weekend, makes for a much longer break 237SJ, for those who take their annual leave in between Chrsitmas and New Year. But 17 days does seem like a very long time.

I have Sat, Sun, next week and the Mon, Tue Bank Hols, so thats 4 . I shall go back to work and then have the New Year weekend too.

If i stayed away between, I still only make it 11 days holiday. Another week and I'd struggle to ever go back!
My OH always has about 2 weeks off so I suppose he'll get longer this year.

I wonder will any jobs get done...!! Doubt it.

I don't have set days to work so I'll be going in depending on how busy we are and I'll guess we're going to be pretty busy (work for a security firm) It'll be a novelty for me going in to work and leaving the boys at home. Lets see how they get on with the housework etc...
Ha! I wish!

I'm at work at 6am Boxing Day :-(
