// Who is this Linekar you refer to - not one I've come across.//

Lizzie Eustace in the Eustace Diammonds ( trollope 1871 ) used to say " what is this Trojan Horse the Greeks and Romans are fighting over ?"
She learnt later in life to quote from the end of a book of poetry to show she had read it all and to pay attention to detail.

sozza - just seeking to divert a thread from a well worn and much rehearsed path
AOG - // Emotionally each has it's own merits and condemnations. //

I would argue each has no merits whatsoever, and endless condemnations.

// Corporal punishment, such as in this case has to be condemned, but at times one could equally say in anger, "it's about time they brought the cane back into schools". //

Corporal punishment should always be condemned, and if one says, in anger that the cane should be brought back into schools, then one should quickly calm down, remember that beating children is barbaric and has no place in a civilised society, and then one could set about remembering not to spout garbage just because one is angry, it makes one sound like an ignorant violent fool.

// Similar could be said regarding capital punishment, when one reads about a savage brutal killing of a little child say, "He or she, should swing for that, time we brought back capital punishment //

And again, one should remember that revenge murder by the state is still revenge murder, and again has no place in a civilised society, so one should remember that one is out of step with civilised thinking, and maybe one should think before one opens one's mouth and trots out reactionary ignorant nonsense.
Nicely put AOG. A very sensible and honest appraisal.
Zacs - I'd certainly echo the 'honest' appraisal ....
Yours ain't bad either geezer.
Zacs-Master

Thank you Zacs makes a change from the usual abusive and name calling answers, one receives from a certain ABer who condemns such practices on a regular basis.
As Elvis would say - Well, thank yuh ..... er .... thank yuh very much ...

If you have something to say to 'a certain AB'er' - why not come out and say it instead of sitting on the fence sniping and moaning?

I am sure the 'cetain AB'er' would be delighted to address any issues you have, and the you can stop cluttering up threads with your hints and digs, which would improve the site for all.
YMB....do you honestly think there are many people on here , that will condone this violence ?

And what the ruddy hell has Gary Linekar got to do with this ?
Elvis is dead Andy, he cannot say anything.
Vortex......People have been demonstrating against Trump all over the world.

But this thread is about the barbarous treatment, of a women in Indonesia, so what has Gary Linekar got to do with this thread ?
I think the OP is highlighting the fact that both relate to women's rights but Lineker and Allen are not likely to concern themselves with the issue in this OP.
