At last ! The Police should have done this months ago.

"Det Supt Katie Elliott said searching the site in Milton, Cambridgeshire, was "the next logical step."

Katie....that "next logical step" was in September last year, not after nearly 5 months of tipping has been done. I hope that if and when Corrie's body has been found, an Enquiry will be launched into the Police's actions in this case. Woefully inadequate so far, and this is the son of a serving Police Officer we are talking about.

^ Exactly mikey, as said it is impossible to come out of the bin service area on foot without being recorded on CCTV. Therefor he either came out in the bin lorry or in another vehicle. I am not sure if any other vehicles were seen coming out of the area, I assume not or they would have been traced and checked.
For those still trying to work out how a lorry driver and a weighbridge operator can fool the system, here's one very simple method:

The lory driver (who weights 75kg) takes his vehicle onto the weighbridge, gets out and steps off the weighbridge. The weighbridge operator presses the button which electronically records the weight of the lorry. When the vehicle is on its way out, the driver again takes it onto the weighbridge but remains in the cab. The weighbridge operator presses the button to record the exit weight. The difference between the two figures ought to show how much waste has been tipped but, because of the driver's actions, it will be 75kg short. (If it's a really old-fashioned weighbridge, where the operator simply writes the figures down instead of them being recorded electronically, it's even easier to fiddle the figures as he simply needs to adjust the figures manually).
There is also the record of his mobile phone signal being tracked and following the same route the bin lorry took to drive from the Gregg's bin area in Bury St Edmond's to the landfill site at Milton.
Looking more and more that his body is under a few 100 tonnes of rubbish at the Milton landfill !
Exactly how it can be done Chris, but most refuse vehicles have a driver and his mate so they both do the same trick and the weight is 150Kg out!
How does the money get back to the operator and driver after this scam has taken place?
will be a mammoth task now, better it had been done much earlier
The waste carrying company pays a lot less in fees and taxes. With a small company the driver of the lorry might be the boss of the company anyway, so he's already in profit. All he then needs to do (as he gets out of the lorry) is to put some money in the hand of the weighbridge operator every time he passes through.

If the lorry driver isn't actually the boss of the company, he might be provided with money to pay the weighbridge operator each time and simply told to keep his mouth shut if he wants to keep his job. Alternatively his boss could also pay him for his part in the scam.
You know far too much about these things than is good for you, Chico.

I think the police should have searched the tip first. They seem to have been extremely slow investigating the whole sad business. I do hope there is an enquiry when things are resolved, but I don't think there will be a 'nice' conclusion.

Helly....the best his poor Mum can expect is that his remains are found. It will give her some peace of mind, I suppose, and something to have a funeral for.

This has been desperately sad, right from the srart.
