After cooking on the grill, to remove the gunge I heat the grill, pull plug out of socket then poor hot water on gunge, use tongs and a pad of paper towel to mop up gunge. Anyone know an easier method. Cleaning takes the shine from an otherwise excellent method of cooking

The same way, except use a damp general purpose cloth (one of those cheap blue or green stripey things) and my fingers. Use of fingers rather than tongs cos they get into the grooves really effectively, however warning that the cloth starts to frazzle and you need to watch that your fingers don't too!
I am just about to buy one of these grills. Any draw backs apart from cleaning?
No other drawbacks. Be careful when puting away after use, takes while to cool down and if you go to lift it you may get nasty hot shock from metal base!
Thanks for that. My husband likes kitchen gadgets I'm afraid. The sandwich toaster lasted two months before he slung it out. Hope the grill does not follow it!

Truly the grill is great and so quick. Why don't they make the plate removable so it can run under a hot tap, honest they need women to design these things. Oh dear Zap I've just been electricuted.
