If she does get rid of the mould, she'll need to prevent it coming back.
Keeping windows open, even throughout winter, will help provide a good air circulation.
Does she dry clothes on the radiators?? Worse still, if she dries clothes in one room on an airer, with the door closed?? All that moisture coming off the clothes goes into the air and circulates around until it condensates on a cold surface. Steam coming from a boiling pan of water, having a shower, etc, all contribute to mould problems.
My advice - buy a dehumidifier. We have 2 (one upstairs and one downstairs) and they both get emptied roughly every other day. All that water that we empty out, would be circulating around our house and would eventually cause mould problems ......

I have to agree with the others, Chess. It's a matter of ventilation extraction and higher air temperatures.
There are plenty of mould-inhibiting paints available, but probably not so effective when the problem is as acute as yours.
If she doesn't mind a possible unpleasant confrontation, then Local Environmental Health should be involved. Especially where young children are involved.
So many people think you simply rent out a place and watch the money come in without having to put anything into it. This is something that continually winds me up.

we have something like the envirovent in our loft, it is amazing, we have to have the filter changed about every three years, we are in council house and there was an amazing person working for them a few years ago ( them that come and assess things to be done, estate manager) and he got one put in our house, but we are one of the few that have one, so it is difficult when we phone them (the council) to replace the filter, they dont know what we are talking about and have to send a guy to have a look, I think they should be in all properties that can have one, would save alot of mould issues. Thanks for the person who put the link up
