I have just purchased a Humax HDR2000T. Like the previous recorder (and all others I believe) you can watch a recorded programme whilst recording another OR record 2 separate programmes. Last night I started watching a recorded programme, forgetting that I had set to record 2 others. The small " record" symbols came up onthe screen for both channels yet I was able to carry on viewing the recorded programme. I checked the library and both programmes have recorded!!! Any explanations out there

It has 2 tuners so you can record 2 programmes at the same time or record one and watch another. Playback is completely separate from the tuners, so you can play back a programme and record 2 others at the same time. What you CAN'T do is record 2 programmes and watch a third programme live at the same time, as that would require 2 tuners for recording and 1 more tuner...

My Human fvp-4000T records 4 programmes while watching another programme either live or pre recorded.
Sorry Humax not Human. Lol
As others have said, this is quite common and I too can do this ...

It's a little more complicated than that. A humax 2-tuner recorder can record two programmes at the same time on the same muliplex and let you watch live a programme on any other multiplex. If you are recording two programmes on two different multiplexes you can watch live a third programme on either of the two mutiplexes being used for recording. In the latter case the unavailable channels are greyed out.

I am watching channel 3 LIVE at the moment whilst recording channel 5 and channel 20. Does this mean then that my recorder is recording ch.5 and ch.29 on different multiplexes so that channel 3 can be watched live on one of them?----but if two programmes were being recorded on the same multiplex I wouldn't be able to watch a third live?
bhg481 is incorrect, I have given you the correct info above which you seem to have ignored.

PS---So sometimes I can watch a 3rd live and sometimes not--is that correct
No, Kenny. Read my post at 14.26.
