Further To My Last Post

I have not touched anything since my last post, but now I have two messages saying that I have 714 system issues which need to be fixed; one from Reimage and one from Advanced PC Care. What do I do now Olly?

You've got adware on your computer, which is responsible for generating those messages. (It might have something to do with the 'xpcom' messages too, as xpcom normally relates to Firefox, not to Internet Explorer).

Download, install and run Malwarebytes AdwCleaner to get rid of it:

Buenchico, you have saved my bacon (and my lounge window!) yet again. I ran the Malwarebytes AdwCleaner and cleared 165 problems (not 714!) and it didn't cost me - the only problem is that I can't uninstall Firefox and reinstall it again in an effort to get rid of the XPCOM error message. It has gone from everywhere else!

Thanks for your update.

A quick bit of googling suggests that the free version of Revo Uninstaller will remove Firefox:

The normal way of uninstalling (via your control panel) leaves your personal profile (with your bookmarks, etc) untouched, so that when you reinstall Firefox you get back everything that you had before. That might still happen with Revo uninstaller but, to be on the safe side, I'd recommend backing up your Firefox bookmarks first, as follows:
Press the Windows key
Type 'places.sqlite' into the search box.
When you see that file listed above the search box, right-click on it and select 'Copy'.
Go to any convenient location (such as your desktop), right-click and select 'Paste'.

If your bookmarks don't reappear after reinstalling Firefox, click the Windows button and search for %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
Double-click on the folder shown in the results box to open it.
Delete places.sqlite from that folder and then replace it with the old version.

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, but it has been one of those weeks. Very many thanks (yet again!) for your advice. I am pleased to say that once more you have to come to my rescue! It was ironic that you suggested REVO Uninstaller, because I had bought REVO Optimizer - and suspected that had caused the problems! I uninstalled it and received a full refund. Everything seems OK now, touch wood!) and that's another tot I owe you - I would be lost without you!
