Can anybody please tell me the average rate for a water taxi from the Cannaregio district to Marco Polo airport? I need to use it around 7pm-ish. Obviously I don't want to be caught out by a driver, by them over charging me. I'm not going to use the Vaporetto or Alilaguna boat buses to get back to the airport, as I've already looked at the timetable and there is too much waiting around. Thanks.

I found this :

Unfortunately, water-taxis in Venice do are very expensive.
The expected rate for a ride from the airport to San Marco (around 30 minutes) is about EUR 80,00, for four people and four luggage (water-taxis have meters). There are some surcharges (night surcharge between 10pm and 7am and surcharge for each piece of luggage and person over the fourth).

You can get detailed information on the costs of the water-taxis on the site of the Comune di Venezia: http://www.comune.venezia.it/turismo/tariffe_t axi.doc
I don't know when this was written but the link has 2003 mentioned but as I don't speak Italian I'm not sure what it refers to!!
Hi, I went to venice afew weeks ago now and a water taxi from san marco to marco polo airport was 100euros, this was at 8am and based on 4 people with 3 suitcases. if i'm correct, san marco is further away from cannaregio so it shouldn't cost any more that 100euros although that is alot of money for a taxi ride. they are better to travel on, private and faster, but the water bus is just a fraction of the price, 11euro's if i'm correct but does take a little longer! hope that helped xx
hi sorry, for the water bus that was 11euro's per person including luggage etc! x
