/// District Judge Emma Arbuthnot had to ask both women – who appeared in burkas which covered their entire bodies and faces – to lift their veils, as their eyes were hidden by dark mesh screens. She said: ‘Miss Boular and Miss Dich, would you mind removing at least part of your veils so I can see part of your eyes?’ ///
/// Boular responded by lifting her veil for a few seconds, while her mother sat motionless and refused to expose her face throughout the preliminary hearing. ///

The problem with burkas is that you cant be sure of identity
but I kinda think that wasnt an issue here
but yeah it could have been chou en lai in that there burka !
and you cant judge the quality of evidence
which isnt really an issue here
and if you refuse to plead
then an automatic not guilty plea is entered
I mean yeah - why didnt they chop their hands off ?
that is what as a DM readers I want to know !

While everyone is so keen on on these women being treated like criminals - let's take a moment to remember that they are not criminals.
They are innocent until proven guilty, and as such, they are entitled to be treated as such.
The judge asked all of them to remove their face covering, which is a reasonable request, and as I have stated previously, the lady who refused should be held in Contempt Of Court, but that is the only crime of which any of them are guilty at this stage.
