windows activation product key

please can someone tell me where i can find my windows product key number. i had to do a system recovery and lost everything and when all was put back on its been asking for a product key. Now i have checked all the literature i got with the computer and i was not supplied with the sticker that is meant to be on the baseunit. I have also been on to the reseller who is just giving me lip service and sending me out disks that do not work. I have had eight weeks of problems and now have 7 days left to activate. Please please help. Very frustrated!! Thanks in advance.

If its not on the base unit or the CD sleeve, you will have to phone microsoft help line, they will sort it for you.

Thanks ratter15. iv also done that and ended up spending a tenner through my mobile to them only for them to say they could do no more for me that id have to go back to reseller who are the ones who are foggin me off!!

Did you buy PC from a reputable dealer? Coz it sounds like he may have installed a pirate copy on your PC, if that is the case, threaten him with the Police, also go and see Trading Standards.

Thanks guys,, yes it was a staff deal through my work. Leading supermarket chain the computer company is based in ireland.(not sure if your aloud to say names). So yes. also i have now managed to locate my product key with a device that was put onto my computer especiallly for the purpose of finding it. Low and behold its not authorised. i have written and sent emails so i will have to wait for a response. However i am able to use my computer but i have only 6 days left to activate then my computer will be inoperable. I think i will try and find out how to report it to microsoft aswell!
