In that ad for life insurance, Michael Parkinson says he's been asked many many times what his No1 interview was and he says that's a tough question. But why is it? I'd like to ask him THAT question! I suppose it's how he defines his No1 interview, but I would have thought he could tell us straight away what he thought his No1 interview was. Or am I wrong?

I think it would be a tough question to answer. He did so many interviews over the years with people from all walks of life some serious, some funny. Hard to compare?

If someone asked me what my favourite song or film was, I couldn't name either. Simply too many!
I know what my favourite one was, oddly perhaps:
the one with Richard Harris, which in the days when that sort of thing didn't seem to matter, overran way beyond the scheduled hour.
I suspect that one would be high on his list.
It's a waffling 'lead-in' to his advertising/endorsement of an Insurance/Assurance product.......there's nothing more to it than that.

If Andy Murray goes on to advertise a similar product, in his dotage, doubtless he'll start off by saying, "I've been asked many times what is his No. 1 tennis match.....".

It serves no purpose other than to tell us a little about the Endorser.
*....not 'his'.....'my'...
wonder how many would-be insurers go for it because of the free pen?

I'm sure Meg Ryan would feature high up on his list ;o)
Zero ael. But it might tip the edge for enquiring.
Helen Mirren I'd imagine - he got on really well with her. NOT.
I really want a Parker pen.
I know someone who enquired about a product just because he liked the pen on offer.

When it arrived it was a rubbish felt tip thing which dried up in no time and he was hounded for months after to take up the policy!

You spoilsport.

When asked he usually says Muhammad Ali was his favourite interviewee.
Emu every time...
i used to be a fan of parky's, now he just likes the sound of his own voice. his questions are overblown and lengthy. i think his no1 interview would be himself!
In that ad for life insurance - he's reading from a script.
I prefer Parkinson to Jonathan Woss!
For those thinking about taking up one of these policies, it might be worthwhile reading this first:-

The "tough" question I would Like to ask Parky in an interview is quite simple . . . "How much Does Axa Sunlife pay you for starring in the Ad?"
I bet he's never short of a pen or two.
