Little Update On Mrf
20 Answers
The Alzheimers is getting steadily worse, and he is now mostly in bed as he has trouble staying awake. We are ten years plus into this horrid disease now, and I admit it tests my patience at times.
I seem (to him) to be the enemy though all I want is his comfort and well being. I hate nagging, he hates me nagging. It starts as gentle reminders, but gets to the nagging stage invariably.
Wish I could cope better with this. I don't want him befuddled in a home or hospital, and I'll fight tooth and nail to keep him at home where he knows his surroundings.
Not a question really, I think I am just venting a bit.
Probably in wrong section anyway.
And to top it all, I gave the wrong dog Vetoryl this morning :(

I know a dear lady whose Mum is in the throes of this terrible illness and it has made her extremely aggressive and this lady is punched and bullied on a daily basis and is constantly asked the same questions over and over and over again. She won't put her Mum into care and so the pain goes on. Terrible, terrible disease - so sad there is no cure xx
Thanks all, that has actually had a rather strange effect, not expected at all, your kindnesses made me weep, and I have been keeping that held in for so flipping long, maybe I just needed that release.
Vet has also just popped round with 2 tablets to give as antidote to the dog I mistakenly gave the Vetoryl to earlier on.
So between the two things my day just improved no end, thank you :)

Ferlew....I'm so sorry for what you're both going through.....and for such a long time...
About twelve years for my mum but now she's in a home she is better for it.....and I certainly am.....
For both your sakes you may have to think about that.....but I really do know what a hard and heart breaking decision it is.....
Much love....Gx

I managed a wry grin at teatime. I had got him a couple of nice salmon steaks (easy to eat) and some small green beans, when I offered it I was told he really didn't fancy fish for his tea. Further enquiries brought out a request for 'a nice piece of haddock, and some mushy peas, no chips' sighhhhhhhhhhh
He left the mushy peas. :)

I too echo the sentiments of the other posters. I have what I would have called 2 aunts but they were neighbours who were in my life a lot who both have the disease but they are two sisters. One is in a separate home from the other - they do have family well one does.
One is 82 has it for 12 years and the other 84 has it about 2 years.
It is a terrible heartbreak for all concerned and it is so normal to have all the feelings you have.
