I had a letter from the DWP yesterday, inviting me to apply for the WFP, for the 2017-2018 winter !

I am not 65 until June next year, but I must call this 0345 number, to make a claim. Apparently I will get between £100 and £300......knowing my luck, it will be £100 !

Wasn't expecting this !

Mallyh, I would always check the goverment website, try each and every benefit to see if you qualify,

The words low heating bills and hot air suddenly spring to mind :-)
I thought the WFP was a standard £200, which is what I get. My friend and her husband get £100 each.
It is £200 per household so 2 adults receive £100 each / 1 adult receives the full £200. If over 80 yrs of age £300 for the household. I believe that is how it works.
ael: Yes, it is the caring Tory Party. Trying to get money to people who need it and not giving universal benefits, like the winter fuel payment, to millionaires who don't. Why should poor taxpayers fund benefits for the rich? All the more caring because money shouldn't be wasted and go those in need instead. Sames with 'free' school meals. Should children of the rich receive them or would that money not be far better spent by targeting help to those in need?

I seem to recall that we have a few debates on here about whether ex-pats abroad should get these WFPs or not. I have always said that they shouldn't.

But according to the website, they don't qualify for WFPs anyway !

So have we all been barking up the wrong tree ?
Who do we know that is an Englishman Abroad? Anyone?
A handy link there, Donny, thanks.

Mikey, surely not! :)
mikey.....it stopped in September 2015 for exPats.

That's a small blow isn't it .
It must have come in handy towards funding your Gurkha Black Dragons - eh?
Winter fuel payment Mikey. Never cast a clout until MAY is out!.
It's July ;)
Your payments are very low in comparison to ours I think, from Oct to April we get €22.50 p/w in RoI, I think I prefer that than a one off payment (I did get the tic comment gulliver )

Just made my claim !

Apparently, I will get £200, in November 2017.

I am a little surprised, as I am not 65 until June 2018 !
ducksie, is that means tested or for every pensioner?
hc, never got back to you as I had logged out and forgot, it's not means tested but only one person in the household can receive it, a married couple would maybe split the payment, low income families (those on Job seekers allowance)receive it as well. They're means tested
