Hjburton, I've got 2 boxes of Lipton's onion soup mix in my pantry. They're dry soup mixes that are most popular not as soup, but as a base for onion dip (e.g., for potato chips). Also popular to mix with veggies (again, potatoes mostly) or to coat meats (beef, chicken) pre-roasting. **yumyumyum**
thanks yvonneM and willa I have made a soup that should have included that but its ok without.its the cabbage soup and i,m sick of it already.has anyone else done this
I was using Knorr's ( I think ) French onion soup mix as a replacement for Liptons onion soup. It was good to add when making burgers etc. Now I can't seem to buy that any more, so I don't know if they've stopped making it. I have had to resort to Sainsburys brand, but it's just ok. Maybe this will be of some use to you.
Ugh, Hj - I can't imagine anything dressing up cabbage soup. Are you actually eating that of your own volition?
Jinglepot, the burger additive is a great use for it, too. Both Knorr's and Lipton's are available by me, but Lipton's is cheaper. A key consideration.
Willa, where do you buy either Liptons or Knorrs ? I can't seem to buy either here , and looked up Skyco's prices-- too dear!
I thought maybe Knorrs had stopped production, but maybe just not sold here anymore ( NI).
I'd be pleased if I could get it mail order from the mainland or if anyone in NI knows where I could buy it locally.
Here's hoping!!
willa the soup is not that bad i don,t know why its called cabbage soup its more like minestrone without the pasta, but a week of it gets a bit boring, but tomorrow is steak day still soup but at least something solid.only hope i lose the promised 5 lbs!!
