Why does any civilised person think it's OK to use noisy garden machinery on a sunny summer Sunday afternoon when other people are trying to enjoy their garden in peace? There should be a law against it.
Noisy garden machinery is used on a Sunday afternoon, partly because the users are out at work all week, and Sunday might be the only day that they have a chance to cut the grass, or whatever.
I can't get upset by people who quite possibly work Mon-Fri catching up on chores in their gardens, better that than living next to a jungle.
I was more concerned about the young children shrieking at 02.00hrs, judging by the pitch of their voices they were well under ten yrs old. I bet they're grouchy and a joy to be around today.
It's easy- you go around all your neighbours, see who works office hours, who works shifts, who works nights and see what time they like to get up on which days. Which days they like peace and quiet, do yourself a spreadsheet. Sorted!
As said most people work during the week and the weekend is the only time they can work on the garden. I am more concerned with Barbecues they really smoke out the neighbours . But so far this year I have not been smoked out ! Barbecues seem to have gone out of fashion.
I have just come in from the garden, having done my half-hour stint of weeding. The only noise I could hear was a wood pigeon coo cooing. Most of my neighbours are retired and the gardens get mown as and when. Rarely does it get done on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I am lucky.
Another point: some things that are found in a garden tend to grow (grass, trees) in summer, so that's the time of year that they have to be dealt with.
Have been out planting up a couple of containers. Only sound is music from the local park where Carnival Fifty Six is in progress. Thousands there, but sounds quite pleasant and muted.
I suggest you hunt down the perpetrators then offer to mow their garden and cut their hedges for them during the week. This way you will get a peaceful Sunday and also get rid of your anger issues by hard physical exercise. :) Alternatively pop some earmuffs on and chill out in the local graveyard.
The people in question have a garden the size of a pocket handkerchief so why the need to spend 3 hours with a noisy petrol strimmer on a Sunday which made conversation in my garden impossible?
True. Maybe it's the only time, and weather permitting you can mow the lawn cut hedge. What annoys me is people who bring radios or hi fi speakers on extension leads into their gardens and play music at high volume. Not everyone enjoys Maroon 5 singing Move like Jagger on a loop.
