...cut sections out of an mp3 and save to a file (wav preferably, ready to cut to CDA). suggestions of freeware software or a 'how to' response using windows media player/winamp or sound recorder would be gratefully receieved. Any freeware must not come with a 'degree in sound recording' pre-requisite.
i'm going to answer my own question with a big "duh!" - have downloaded a freeware mp3 -> wav converter and will then use windows' "sound recorder" to chop the start and end to leave the bit i want. simple wannit?
Winamp can convert mp3 to wav as well. And you can get a free trial of Soundforge which I found to be a good tool for editing wavs. By the way, didn't I promise you a recording some months back? Well I finally found the disc a couple of weeks back, so if you still want it let me know.
thanks folks no more responses needed. Smorodina yes you did! was it "sparky's magic piano"? if so then don't worry i have managed to get a copy on mp3 off the Wonderful Worldwide Web - i can distribute if anyone else is interested........ If it wasn't sparky then do you remember what i was after?
Some crackles and distortion, but it is a very old record - 1964- and one of the first I ever bought, so probably got played a lot on antique equipment!
