My "i Feel Miserable" Thread
12 Answers
After a week off that was meant to relieve the stress I've been feeling at work, there's no improvement. I went back on Monday with a feeling of dread, to be greeted with more chaos, fatigue, a feeling of being unable to cope. I'm afraid I will soon be snapping at some of the clients ( many would test the patience of a saint).
Though I love my job, I question my ability to continue this way. We are on the brink of the busiest time of year...and I dread it.
I really don't know what to do...and I'm rubbish at making decisions.
Ps...I'm not the only staff member feeling this bad.
This could have gone in B and S...but I'll be entertained here.

Have you ever felt like this before? I know that many people don't believe in happy tablets from the doctor but if this continues you should go and see him/her/it/gender-fluid.
When I was diagnosed with Manic Depression I talked about it and it was amazing how many other people had experience in mental health issues but were afraid to talk about them.

Mamya...it would be retirement that I'm looking at. I'm the eldest employee doing the most physical job.
Wolf...yes, I've felt this before...along with anxiety and panic attacks. No medication(now) as it does not keep me from doing what I want.
Job is crazy as we are very short staffed...relying on volunteers who may or may not be dedicated. Some are "recoverees"...so we cannot put too many expectations on them.

Hi pasta had a friend hated his job been there 10 years under pressure everyday became really tired and miserable all of a sudden new change of management made him have to do more ...he walked in after 2 days and jacked it in ..what a different person he is now happy and relaxed if he can say no more I'm sure you can if you can afford it leave put your feet up for a while you deserve it x
Pasta.....I've always had great admiration for what you do but I know from experience what it's like when a job you love and give everything to becomes something to dread in the morning.....
Mine was trying to do it well and care for MrG at the same time....I took early retirement before I throttled one of the children I'd once have loved and have had every patience with....
If you are in a position to retire now could you do that but go in as a part time volunteer to do what you're good at without the responsibilities?....x

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling so down, Pasta. Perhaps you need a bit more time away from your job so that you can think through what you really want to do.
Don't stay because you think they can't replace you. Someone will do the job, if not as well as you do it. Gness' idea of part time volunteering is a good one. Will that work for you?
