Is there some scientific reason or is it because they are lightweight and travel easily with the water, up the saucepan?

No other frozen veg is so animate!

(My peas have just boiled over...again! I wasn't watching them.)

Tilly...frozen peas are already cooked. They just need defrosting and heating.

I don't think frozen peas are cooked, Ummmm. I think they are frozen straight from the pod.

Minty, you can't have fish chips and carrots. It's not right.
No ummmm they are not cooked frozen straight from picking to keep the freshness in
Question Author
♫Fresh as the moment when the pod went pop♫
Rice bubbles over even with the heat source off. Chemical reaction maybe. Wonder would Mamyas tip work with that.
Don't know about your peas, Tilly. Like all the other (normal) people, I bung them in the micro-wave. ;)

I am normal...ish!
nooooo..yer right..has to be peas !!
They still don't need boiling though. Just heating. I love peas.
Question Author
We only have peas because Mr T likes them.
Tilly, as I said, boil water, tip in peas, bring back to boil and strain....no covering, no turning down, nothing. Less to go wrong.....I think that frozen peas are blanched before freezing but i could be wrong
Tilly it's because they're so tiny and all sit on the surface - it exacerbates the boiling rapidly! As others have said, I always do in microwave.
