Vert And Greenhew. What Were They?
14 Answers
If anyone could shed some light on the following I`d be most grateful. Some 16th century tenant farmers paid an annual rental for `vert` or `greenhew`. What was `vert` or `greenhew`?
Many thanks.

Vert = plants/crops of all kinds. Greenhew = harvesting the crop or green vegetation growing in a wood or forest and serving as a cover for game.
